What will I get out of this program?

Draw your skills for technical engineering from SkillsTech Australia. This program will provide you with the skills and knowledge required for design and drafting. You’ll learn about computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting; inspection; quality control; supplier evaluation; laboratory nondestructive testing; technical purchasing; and design and development work (prototypes) in product and process areas.

What job opportunities will I have?

Upon successful completion participants will be able to work as an Engineering Technician.

Do I need to have prior knowledge or work experience?

Participants must be employed as a trainee and have signed a Registered Training Contract.

How do I enrol?

This program is an apprenticeship/traineeship. Completion of Year 10 or equivalent is recommended. You must be employed as an apprentice or trainee, and must have signed a Registered Training Contract to be eligible to undertake training in this program. School based apprenticeships may also be available.

When can I start?

You may enrol and commence study at any time through the year.

How long will it take?

Once a week on Thursday's for 12 months Part Time.
Please note: This program has rolling starts.

How much time will I commit?

Thursday's from 12.00pm to 4.00pm.

How much will it cost?

Full Fee approximately $510.00 and Concession Fee approximately $204.00. SkillsTech Australia charge an additional annual General Utility Fee of $35 per calendar year.

This is a government funded program, and concessions may be available for eligible students at the time of enrolment. Refunds will only be provided after enrolment if requested prior to start of study; unless exceptional circumstances exist.

The Certificate III in Engineering Technical - Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) will help enhance your skills in using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).  Designers, draftspersons, technicians, tradespersons and drawing office assistants working in an engineering environment should have skills to use CAD.  THis program is also available to participants wanting to learn CAD.

How do I enrol?

This program is currently not open for direct enrolment and we are accepting Expression of Interest for our next intake. Please contact our Client Service Centre on 1800 654 447 or visit one of our Training Centres to register your interest in enrolling.

How much will it cost?

This program's fee structure is currently under review.  It is anticipated new prices will be available by 30 August 2013

This is a Fee for Service program, therefore no concessions are available. There are no refunds provided after enrolment for this program unless requested prior to the commencement of the program.

Participants are advised the following units listed are under development.  These units will gradually be released during the year. 

MEM30031A: Operate computer-aided design (CAD) system to produce basic drawing elements

MEM30032A: Produce basic engineering drawings

MEM30033A: Use computer-aided design (CAD) to create and display 3-D models

MEM09204A: Produce basic engineering detail drawings

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Do you have industry experience you would like to recognise?
Prior to enrolment we are able to assess your skills via Credit Transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
If you have completed an accredited program through another training provider you may be eligible to receive a Credit Transfer.
If you have relevant industry experience you may be eligible to receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
